Martin County is located on the east coast of Florida. Martin County lies above the beautiful Palm Beach County. The population of the county is estimated to be around 126,000. Martin County is home to many historic places and landmarks and makes Martin County a tourist spot of many history buffs. The primary law enforcement agency for the county is the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. The county also has other local police departments which include, Jupiter Island, Sewall’s Point, and Stuart. Like most of the counties in the state of Florida, the police agencies work with Florida Highway Patrol to enforce the laws of the county.

 

Martin County is proactive when it comes to moving violations. Last year the county issued over 21,000 moving violations. The majority of these violations were for unlawful speed. The county uses laser and radar guns as well as speed traps, aircraft, pacing, and marked and unmarked cars to catch speeding motorists. Aside from issuing tickets for speeding, over 5,000 criminal citations were also issued. These range from driving under the influence, fleeing the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended licensee and driving without a valid license.

 

Martin County has three county judges that may preside over your case. These are Judge David Harper, Judge Stewart Hershey and Judge Kathleen Roberts. Martin County is part of the 19th Judicial circuit and has 5 circuit judges as well. These are Judges, Gary Sweet, Steven Levin, Robert Makemson, Elizabeth Metzger and Sherwood Bauer. The county seat is located in Stuart.
