Leon County is located in the the northwest area of Florida. The state capital of Tallahassee lies within Lee County. Lee County is also home to Florida State University and Florida A&M University. The population of the county is around 264,000. The major police departments for Leon County are the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Tallahassee Police Department, Florida State University Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol.

 

The law enforcement agencies of Leon County are very proactive. This is especially due to the two universities within the county. Over 40,000 moving violations were issued in the past year. The majority being issued for unlawful speed from Florida Highway Patrol and Tallahassee Police Department. Speed traps and DUI checkpoints are very common in Lee County.
