Polk County is located in central Florida. The current estimated population is around 500,000.

The major law enforcement agency for the county is Polk County Sheriff’s Office. There are several other local police departments that assist both the Polk County’s Sheriff’s Office as well as the Florida Highway Patrol. These include Bartow, Eagle Lake,Auburndale, Cypress, Davenport, Dundee, Eaglelake, Fort Meade, Frostproof, Haines City Lakeland, and Winter Haven Police Departments. All of the law enforcement agencies in the county are very proactive when it comes to enforcing the laws of the county.

 

The law enforcement agencies wrote over 80,000 moving violations in the last year. Most of these were for unlawful speed, as well as running a red light and careless driving. Florida Highway Patrol is known to set up speed traps, as well as using aircraft in hopes of catching as many speeding motorist as possible. Aside from issuing moving violations the county saw over 20,000 criminal violations in the last year. Most of these were for motorists being in violation of Florida Statue 322.03, which is driving with a suspended license, and violation of Florida Statue 322.34 which is driving without a valid license.
