Gilchrist County

Gilchrist County is a rural county in Florida. The population of the county is very small and is estimated to be at 14,000. The entire county only has one traffic light, so one can imagine how rural the county is. The major local law enforcement of the county is that of the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office works very closely with the Florida Highway Patrol to enforce the traffic as well as other laws of the county. The county seat is Trenton and Trenton also has their own police department. The City of Trenton Police Department works very aggressively with the other 2 law enforcement agencies to ensure that all laws are being enforced.

Although the county may be rural, Florida Highway Patrol is determined to catch as many motorists who may be speeding or breaking other moving laws. From using speed traps, to radar and laser guns and other approved speed measured devices.
